M3 worked with the Dell experience design group to develop a next generation Tower Server for the PowerEdge line of enterprise servers and storage that leverages existing large form factor disk drive carriers that can be accessed from the front of the product. The T320 is a rack-able tower server that that was specifically developed to serve the needs of small to medium sized business computing needs; reliability, ease of use, scalability, security and capable of performing multiple functions for a small IT infrastructure. M3 was engaged in early architectural investigations to define component arrangements to optimize storage density and minimize foot print while carefully balancing thermal/mechanical requirements with an appropriate aesthetic response. M3 helped translate the Dell design language into the T320 color material, finish and geometry. This was achieved through multiple cosmetic models, meticulous attention to detail and studies in manufacturability prior to finalizing the design for production.
